The Rowing Repair Center can aid you in the pick up and delivery
of your rowing shell, and will work hard to make your shell
transportation smooth and hassle-free. Shells are often long
(60 ft+) and require several people to lift them on and off
the trailer. For this reason, transportation is discussed
upon receipt of the Request for Quote, so that all parties
can arrange for a successful hand off.
There are typically two ways to transport your shell(s):
1. Arrange for The Rowing Repair Center
to handle your pick up and/or delivery. The Center
can transport singles, doubles, and fours with the RRC van
in some instances. The Rowing Repair Center can also arrange
for a ride for your shell with a commercial or other crew
carrier, provided adequate notice is provided. (Extra charges
may apply).
2. You provide the pick up and delivery,
using your trailer and your crew. Make sure to schedule
with The Rowing Repair Center several days ahead so they can
put you on the Transport Schedule. (Remember, one driver cannot
lift an eight alone, so you must bring adequate help).
Many times, crews are traveling through East Tennessee, on
their way to spring training (in Florida, for example), or
to attend one of the many regattas and rowing events in Oak
Ridge. With a little planning, drop off and pick up can be
easy. To take advantage of this convenience, schedule your
drops to coincide with your next regatta. For a list of regattas
in Oak Ridge this year, click here (link to
