Team member working on a shell.
Tim Searles is the founder and president of The Rowing Repair
Center. Tim spent 27 years in his native state of Connecticut,
refining the science of refinishing and restoration of aged
woods, including period furniture, historic buildings, sailing
vessels (17-43’), classic power craft, and rowing shells.
In 2000, while a member of Oak Ridge Rowing Association, The
Rowing Repair Center was born.
Initially a one man operation, The Rowing Repair Center has
grown to include a staff of experienced and dedicated professionals.
In 2004, operations moved to a larger building when the demand
for shell repair exceeded the space at the old shop. The Rowing
Repair Center moved to a larger facility in order to accommodate
rapidly expanding production and storage needs. The new facility
includes production and storage space, as well as offices
and a show room.
Our experienced craftsmen are here to provide precision repair
and refinishing to your boat. Whether it is an antique wooden
shell in need of restoration, or a brand new eight that was
totaled on the trailer, we have the expertise to get your
shell back in service.
